CEO Academy delivers Pan-Canadian message of Learning Innovation to CMEC at C21 CANADA SUMMIT 150

CEO Academy delivers Pan-Canadian message of Learning Innovation to CMEC at C21 CANADA SUMMIT 150, Charlottetown, July 19th to 21 st , 2017

As Superintendents/Directors from across Canada, we are uniquely positioned to provide advice,
perspective and information on policies that support learning for all students… By coming together and
having authentic dialogue about the supports that provinces need, our intent is to influence governments
across Canada to help them develop policies that support innovative and engaging learning
environments… required to empower teachers, schools and districts.

Excerpt from the CEO Academy Charter of Beliefs, April 2015

On July 7th, 2016, the CEO Academy made a historic debut at CMEC that led to an invitation to provide a Pan-Canadian perspective on Learning and Technology Innovation to K to 12 Education Ministers on July 20 th , 2017 and opening the doors at CMEC to outside stakeholders for the first time.

The CEO Academy presentation focused on system culture (6 drivers) with exemplars of learning engagement gathered from all CEO Academy districts across the country. A video capturing students engaged in global competencies (7Cs) concluded the presentation. Questions of interest from Ministers opened meaningful dialogue and set the stage for continued alliance and advocacy.

A delegation of 30 C21 Canada Board and CEO Academy members attended the Learning and Technology Innovation Roundtable presentation and discussion with 7 members of the CEO Academy leading the presentation.

Working on the presentation was a daunting task to ensure the final product represented us all.  It really came together when CEOs gathered face-to- face for critical and constructive feedback to shape overall key messages.  The best part for me was to see a final product illustrating a journey of improvement that is sometimes hard to see in our day-to- day work.

Elwin LeRoux, Superintendent, Halifax Regional School Board

The opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across Canada on our presentation to capture what is happening was both a challenging and enriching experience.  I am inspired by the wonderful work taking place in all our districts and am excited about the possibilities that come from sharing our stories of innovation and deep learning.

Denise Andre, Director of Education, Ottawa Catholic School Board
